Messianic Era
Immanuel
Isaiah 7:10-19
10 Still the Lord spoke again to Ahaz, 11 “Ask yourself a sign from the Lord your God, Sheol-deep or high above.” 12 Ahaz said, “I will not ask nor test the Lord my God.” 13 He said “Hear, house of David! Is it too little for you to weary a man that you tire also my God? 14 Therefore the Lord God will give you a sign. Look, the virgin conceives and bears a son called Immanuel. 15 He shall eat curds and honey by the time he knows how to reject evil and choose good. 16 Because until the child knows how to reject evil and choose good, the land by which you are distressed before two kings will be forsaken. 17 The Lord is going to bring upon you, your people, and your father’s house days that did not come since the day the king of Assyria took Ephraim away from Judah.” 18 On that day the Lord will whistle for the flies at the rivers’ skirts of Egypt and for the bees in the land of Assyria. 19 All of them will come and rest in the valley of the place, in the clefts of the rock, and in all the caves.

Bethlehem
Micah 5:2-15
2 You, Bethlehem of Ephrathah, are least among the thousands of Judah. From you shall come forth a ruler over Israel. His coming is from the beginning, from days forever. 3 Therefore, he will betray them until the time when the mother gives birth, and the remnant of his brothers shall return to the sons of Israel. 4 He shall rise and shepherd with the strength of the Lord, in the honor of the name of the Lord his God. They shall return because henceforth he will be great to the ends of the earth. 5 There will be peace. Once the Assyrian comes to our land and treads upon our palaces, we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight chiefs of man. 6 They shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword and the land of Nimrod with rage. They shall deliver us from the Assyrian so he will not come into our region or tread in our borders. 7 The remnant of Jacob will be in a nation among many nations, like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass not abiding for man and not waiting for mankind. 8 The remnant of Jacob will be in a nation among many nations, like a lion among the animals of the flocks, like a lion’s cub among the fold of flocks, which once it is separated and cut off, it is broken with no one to deliver. 9 Your hand shall be lifted up over your haters, and all your enemies shall be destroyed. 10 On that day, says the Lord, I will destroy your steeds from among you and destroy your chariots. 11 I will destroy the towns of your land and throw down all your surroundings. 12 I will destroy the sorceries from your hands, and you shall have no more soothsayers. 13 I will destroy your sculptures and your high places from among you, and you shall bow down no more to the work of your hands. 14 I will destroy your plantations from among you and lay waste to your cities. 15 I will do retribution in rage and anger from the nations who do not hear.

Prince of Peace
Isaiah 9:1-7
1 The land of Zebulun hastened, and the land of Naphtali. The hold has strengthened the way of the sea, the ends of the Jordan River, Galilee of the gentiles. 2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. On those who dwelled in a land of death’s shadows, a light has shined. 3 You multiplied the nation. You have increased joy. They rejoiced before you as those who rejoice at the harvest and as those who exult when they divide plunder. 4 For you have broken the yoke of their subjugation, the staff of their shoulder, the rod that was subjugating them, as on the day of Midian. 5 For every sound shall be heard in the quake. The garment rolling in blood was both for the conflagration and for the fire’s fuel. 6 For a child has been born for us, a son given to us. His authority is on his shoulder. He is named Wonderful, Counselor, Heroic God of Eternity, Authority of Peace. 7 His authority is to multiply and for peace without end on the throne of David and his kingdom in order to fix it and support it with justice and with righteousness from now until forever. The zeal of the mighty Lord does this.

Son of God
Wisdom 2:12-24
12 “We shall hinder the righteous one because he is unsweet to us, for he stands against our deeds, shames us by the works of the law, and reminds us of the follies of our boldness. 13 He supposes to have knowledge of God and says about himself, “I am the Son of God.” 14 He was to us a reproof of our thoughts. 15 He was heavy upon us and even to see him because his life was not like that of others, and his ways are altered. 16 We were considered by him as unclean, and he avoids our ways as uncleanness. He blesses the ways and the ends of the righteous and boasts God is his father. 17 We shall see if his words are true and test him with his outcome. 18 For if the righteous one is God’s son, he will accept him and save him from the hands of those who stood against him. 19 Let us question him with insult and torture so we know the care of his humility and examine if he has evil. 20 Let us reckon him to a naked death, for the questioner is upon him from his words.” 21 The insipid had supposed and erred because their evil blinded them. 22 They did not know the mysteries of God, nor hope for the holy wage, nor judge the lives of the elders without blame. 23 Because God created one without corruption and in the image of his likeness has chosen him. 24 Through the envy of the Backbiter death entered the world, 25 and those who have his part are tested by it.

Suffering Servant
Isaiah 53:1-12
1 Who is faithful to our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2 He went up like a child before him and like a root from thirsty ground. He had no appearance nor majesty. We saw he had no appearance and deceived him. 3 He is despised and humiliated by others a man of pains, knower of sufferings, and as one from whom we turn our faces. We despised him and did not consider him. 4 Surely he has endured our sufferings, and our pains he has carried. We considered him beaten, struck by God, and humiliated. 5 He was killed because of our sins and humiliated because of our iniquities. The chastisement that made us whole is upon him, and by his wounds we shall be healed. 6 All of us like sheep have gone astray. Each have turned away from him. The Lord has allotted him the sins of us all. 7 He neared and was humiliated. He did not open his mouth. Like a lamb he was led to the slaughter and like a sheep before the shearer he was silent and did not open his mouth. 8 From captivity and from judgement he was taken away. Who might narrate his generation? Because he was cut off from the land of the living and some of the iniquitous of my people neared him. 9 The wicked gave his grave, and the rich in his death; he did no iniquity, and he had no deceit in his mouth. 10 The Lord had willed to humiliate him and make him suffer. Sin was put on his soul for him to see the seed and lengthen days. The will of the Lord in his hands shall prosper. 11 Out of the labor of his soul, he shall see, satisfy with knowledge, and vindicate the righteous. He is the servant of many, and he shall bear their sins. 12 Therefore, I will allot him to many and shall allot the spoil to the strong because he cast his soul to death. He was numbered with the iniquitous, had bore the sins of many, and happened on the iniquitous.

Refiner
Malachi 3:1-5; 4:1-6
1 Behold, I am sending my messenger, and he will clear the way before me. From the still, he will come to the temple of the Lord to which you are expecting. The messenger standing in whom you delight, behold, is coming, says the mighty Lord. 2 Who hopes for the day coming to him? Or who can stand when it is revealed? Because he is like a refining fire and like bleaching sulfur. 3 He will return to refine and purify like silver, purify the sons of Levi, and choose them like gold and like silver, and they will be bringing an offering to the Lord in righteousness. 4 The offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of forever and as in the years before. 5 I will draw dear upon you in judgment; I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers; the adulterers; those who swear falsely; those who oppress the wage of the hired, the baptized, the orphan, the widow, and the incliner upon the one who turns to me. Do not fear me, says the mighty Lord.
1 Because the days are coming. I will ignite my rage like an oven. All the iniquitous and all the doers of sin will be chaff. I shall burn them the coming day, says the mighty Lord. He will not leave them a root or branch. 2 The sun of righteousness and healing will shine upon you who fear my name upon its tongue. You shall go out and leap like calves. 3 You shall tread the iniquitous because they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do it, says the mighty Lord. 4 Remember the Law of my servant Moses, my works I commanded him at Horeb upon all Israel, the commandments and the judgements. 5 Behold, I am sending you the prophet Elijah before the great and fearful day of the Lord comes. 6 He will turn the heart of parents on their children and the heart of children to their parents until I come and strike the earth for destruction.

Ezekiel 16:1-7
1 The statement of the Lord was upon me to say: 2 Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abomination, 3 and say, Thus says the Lord of Lords to Jerusalem: Your root and your birth were in the land of Canaan: your father was an Amorite, and your mother a Hittite. 4 As for your birth, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water, nor salted with salt, nor wrapped in cloths. 5 Her eye did not pity you to do any of these for you and have mercy on you. Rather you were cast in the open field with deprecation of yourself on the day you were born. 6 I passed by you and saw you flailing about in your blood. I said to you in your blood, “Live! 7 Increase like a plant of the field.” You increased, greatened, and entered the cities. Your breasts had risen, your hair sprouted, and you were naked and bare.

Jerusalem Lost
Ezekiel 16:15-29; 36-44
15 You trusted in your beauty, whored because of your name, and cast your whorings on any passerby. 16 You took some of your clothes, and made yourself female idols, and whored with them. It will not enter nor be for you. 17 You took wares of your glory, from gold and silver I gave you, and made yourself male images, and whored with them. 18 You took your wares of your ornamentation, covered them, christened them, and set my incense before them. 19 The bread I gave to you, the choice flour, honey, and oil to eat, you placed before them as a sacrificial odor, says the Lord of Lords. 20 You took your sons and your daughters, whom you bore to me and sacrificed them as food. Aside from whorings! 21 You slaughtered my children and gave them away as you lusted with them. 22 In all your abomination and whoring, you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, flailing about in blood.

36 Thus says the Lord of Lords. Because you gave your bronze and revealed your nakedness in your whoring on your lovers, because of all your abominable idols, and because of the idols, your abomination, and your children’s blood you gave to them— 37 because of this, I am gathering all your lovers, with whom you delighted, all you loved with those you hated. I shall gather them against you from all around and reveal your nakedness to their eyes, and they will see all your nakedness. 38 I shall judge you as adulteresses and blood-shedders and give you to blood, anger, and jealousy. 39 I shall deliver you into their hands. They will throw down your vaulted fonts, uproot your shrines, strip your clothes, take the wares of your glory, and leave you naked. 40 They will bring up groups against you, stone you, and strike you with their swords. 41 They will burn you inside fire and do judgments on you in the sight of many women. I shall stop you from whoredom, and you will no longer give a wage. 42 I shall calm my anger on you, and my jealousy will turn away from you; I shall be calm and be angry no longer. 43 Because you have not remembered the days of your youth and enraged me with all these, I have requited your ways upon your head, says the Lord of Lords, because you did abomination and whoredom. 44 All who make parables will make a parable about you and say, “The daughter is like the mother.”

Ezekiel 16:59-63
59 Because of this, thus says the Lord of Lords, I shall deal with you as you did because you despised my oaths and annulled my covenant. 60 But I shall remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth and establish with you an everlasting covenant. 61 You will recall your ways and be ashamed when I have taken your older and younger sister, and given you them as daughters not from your covenant. 62 I shall establish my covenant with you, and you will know I am the Lord 63 because you will remember and be ashamed and no longer open your mouth out of your shame once I forgive you everything you did, says the Lord of Lords.

Marriage of the Builder
Isaiah 62:1-5
1 For Zion I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem I will not rest until her righteousness shines goes forth like light and her salvation blazes like a torch. 2 The gentiles will see your righteousness, and all the kings your glory. You will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will set. 3 You shall be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a diadem of the kingdom in the hand of your God. 4 You will no more be called captive. Your land will no more be called desolate. But you shall be called “My Delight” and your land “Married” because the Lord delights in you and your land shall be married. 5 For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your builder marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices in the bride, your God will rejoice in you.
